Sprint star Brown connects with TSTT
TRINIDAD and Tobago athletic sensation Darrel Brown stand to rake in the dollars in bonuses, following a contract signed with TSTT yesterday. According to the three-year endorsement deal signed, Brown the World Junior 100 metres record holder will receive bonuses for performances at various track meets, and for his world ranking.
Currently ranked among the top 10 in the world overall by the International Association of Athletics Federation, Brown becomes the second top local athlete to be signed by TSTT, joining cricket superstar Brian Lara. The agreement states Brown will represent TSTT’s High Speed Internet Access Service among others. And he will be provided with mobile high speed internet and telephone service. TSTT chief executive officer Samuel Martin said his company’s foray into endorsement agreements with sporting personalities was geared at strengthening the presence of TSTT products in what will be an increasingly competitive market.
He said: “TSTT has a powerful suite of communications solutions on the market that are backed up by robust, technology-driven systems on par with some of the most developed countries of the world. “This is also the essence of the calibre of the sports persons we have sought out — powerful, driven, world class.” Signing the agreement Brown said he was very encouraged by the fact TSTT were standing behind him and his professional development. He said: “TSTT appreciates the effort that goes into an athlete’s preparations. They have made a commitment and that says a lot to me about the company. “I will certainly reciprocate and fulfil my commitment to them with pride.”
