Two L/Course swim records smashed
SAMANTHA RAHAEL of Marlins and Kimba Collymore of Blue Dolphins each broke national records in the 50-metre butterfly event as the National Long Course Swimming Championships began at the Marlins Swim Pool, Westmoorings on Wednesday night. Rahael, competing in the girls’ 11-12 age group, took gold in 31.52 seconds, erasing Collymore’s mark of 32.71 set in December 2002. Chloe McMillan of La Joya Torpedoes took silver in 33.19 while Meagan Mark of St Michael’s won the bronze in 34.23. Collymore lowered her previous girls’ 13-14 standard of 32.13, which she set 12 months ago, when she touched the wall in 31.69 seconds, ahead of Piranhas’ Brittany Stewart 32.90 and Tidal Wave’s Afiya Walker 33.69.
