Death penalty for criminals

THE EDITOR: Crime in Trinidad and Tobago is escalating everyday as the twin-island republic is faced with kidnapping, murder, rape, burglary and robbery. Law-abiding citizens contemplate migration to safe havens, pending the rampage of criminals desecrating our “homeland’s soil.” Innocent lives are snuffed out in less than ten minutes. When would Trinidad and Tobago “wake up and smell the coffee?” These criminal rings are highly organised and the money obtained from ransom is laundered. Adults and children are kidnapped in expectation of obtaining easy cash. If one continues to ignore this scourge we would eventually feel the repercussions of these criminal elements in our society. The ultimate resolution to cut this “wave of crime” is imposing stronger penalties for kidnappers, murders, rapists etc. I strongly advocate the death penalty. Looking forward to a peaceful alteration!
