Collymore (K) wins 3 L/Course gold
KIMBA COLLYMORE captured three gold medals, one on Friday night and two yesterday morning, as the National Long Course Swimming Championships continued at the Marlins Swim Pool, Westmoorings. Competing in the girls 13-14 age group the Blue Dolphins Swim Club representative won the 200-metres butterfly in two minutes 40.31 seconds, with Piranhas’ Brittany Stewart 2:58.46 and Marlins’ Megan Charles 3:05.09 trailing.
Collymore also claimed the 50m breaststroke in 38.01, followed by Cherisse McDonald of Marlins 40.21 and Afiya Walker of Tidal Wave 40.73, and then she took the 200m individual medley in 2:50.79, ahead of Tidal Wave’s Raenelle Carillo 2:54.30 and Janine Thornhill 2:54.73. One national record was broken yesterday in the boys 11-12 50m breaststroke, with the St Michael’s pair of Ryan Rigues (36.43) and Christian Homer (37.60) lowering Joseph Deane’s 2003 time of 37.66. The meet will conclude today.

Girls eight-and-under 50m butterfly: 1.Cadean Lyons 43.50; 2.Shanton Ince 45.22; 3.Rebekah Mendoza (St Michael’s) 50.35. Boys eight-and-under 50m butterfly: 1.Jonathon Fabio 41.66; 2.Joshua Changar 41.78; 3.Keegan Boisson (Flying Fish) 46.45.
Girls 11-12 200m butterfly: 1.Samantha Rahael (Marlins) 2:42.21; 2.Chloe Mc Millan (La Joya) 3:05.99; 3.Caleah Gregoire (Marlins) 3:08.03.
Boys 13-14 200m butterfly: 1.Joel Sankar (La Joya) 2:25.05; 2.Osei Campbell (Flying Fish) 2:47.72; 3.Cadhene Lubin-Hewitt (La Joya) 3:10.36.
