Chaguanas U-15 cricketers tour USA

AN UNDER-15 Chaguanas cricket team leaves here Friday for a 19-day tour of the United States. The 17-member team to be led by QRC student Kjorn Ottley, will play matches against Hartford City, Connecticut. At a “sending off” ceremony for the tour yesterday, a project of the Chaguanas Borough Council, Chaguanas Mayor Dr Suruj Rambachan told the young cricketers, “the aim is to involve the youth in positive programmes, so they will keep away from developing negative attitudes.”

And UNC leader and Couva North MP Basdeo Panday paid tribute to the Chaguanas Borough on its initiative, and expressed the hope other corporations would follow their example. And Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board first vice-president Dudnath Ramkissoon, who himself came through the youth ranks and later became captain of the national team told the youngsters, “success will depend on what you put into the game,” and he reminded them “the sky is the limit.” Funding for the tour and equipment and gear were donated by the Chaguanas business community.

The team is: Kjorn Ottley (capt), Richard Ramlal, (vice-capt), Yanick Ottley, Josiah Jagmohan, Qualeem Mohammed, Amzard Mohammed,  Kissoondath Magram, Avinash Deonarine, Nicholas Ramdhanie, Roshan Parag, Hakeem Baksh, Vinesh Mangalee, Vickram Malooram, Vishal Harricharan, Stuart Lewis, Stephan Morgan,Varune Mangalee.
Manager is Gopaul Boodhan, Narsingh Ramberran, coach, Mulchan Lewis, co-ordinator and Frank Morgan, physiotherapist.
