Collymore looks set for Second Test
LONDON: West Indies are banking on the experience of replacement fast bowler Corey Collymore to revive their fortunes against England in the Second Test starting at Edgbaston on Thursday. West Indies lost to England by a crushing 210 runs yesterday in the series opener at Lord’s and captain Brian Lara hopes the inclusion of Collymore can bolster his young bowling attack. “Corey Collymore is going to be out there at Edgbaston,” Lara told reporters at Lord’s.
Collymore, called into the squad last week after uncapped paceman Ravi Rampaul flew home with a shin injury, was scheduled to arrive in England yesterday. However, fellow fast bowler Tino Best is carrying a back strain and is not certain of playing at Edgbaston. “It is something that is going to be assessed in the next couple of days,” Lara said.
West Indies squad for Edgbaston: Chris Gayle, Devon Smith, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Brian Lara (captain), Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Dwayne Bravo, Ridley Jacobs, Omari Banks, Tino Best, Pedro Collins, Fidel Edwards, Corey Collymore, Carlton Baugh, Dwayne Smith, Jermaine Lawson, and Sylvester Joseph.
