Jairam beaver-trick in NSL windball
Jason Jairam playing for Demolition Windball Cricket Club of Siparia, grabbed the first beaver-trick in the history of the Nationwide Sports League, as matches in the Radio 90.5 FM/NSL windball cricket series continued over the weekend. Jairam excited the fans at Siparia with four wickets in four balls of his third over against Evolution. Demolition batted first and scored 111 for four wickets in their allotted 20 overs with PowerGen’s Nicholas Ramphal getting 28. Evolution were then restricted to just 19 all out with Jairam returning the excellent figures of 4-2-6-8.
In the Central Zone, DX Men of Cunupia continued their fine run by defeating Double Defenders by nine wickets in a one-sided affair. Batting first, Double Defenders made 37 all out with Rajesh Mannory getting 19 runs. K Samlal of DX was the chief destroyer with five for 13. DX Men in reply raced to their winning score for the loss of one wicket, thanks to G Ramharrack who got 25 runs with three sixes. In the women’s league, Slammers of Las Lomas recorded a five-wicket victory over Victors XI. Susan Lee Tang got 30 runs to lead Victors XI to 91 for four off 20 overs and Slammers replied with a convincing 92 for five in just 15 overs to take the win.
