Hard Core squash kings
QUEEN’S PARK Hard Core emerged as champions of Division A as the 2004 National Squash League came to an end recently. Petrotrin Stars took the runners-up position, followed by Queen’s Park Old Navy and Klub Squash. Both the ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions were contested in two stages - the first stage comprising of round-robin play and the second stage featuring the top four teams playing semifinals and a final to establish final placings.
Queen’s Park Mix & Match claimed their third successive ‘B’ Division title took care of fellow Parkites club Young Guns 3-2 with Dean Lee Lum whipping Brandon De Montrichard 9-3, 9-4, 9-1; Gerard Edghill cruising past Michael Farah 9-3, 9-6, 9-3 and Harry Laughlin edging Simon Ramchand 9-2, 8-10, 10-8, 7-9, 9-4. For Young Guns, Jon Davis got past Lewis Smith 7-9, 9-7, 9-6, 9-4 while Adrian Dyer overcame the challenge of Wayne Kangaloo 9-6, 5-9, 10-8, 4-9, 9-3. Petro-Pres Ole Boys earned a walkover victory against Deep Stroke in the third-placed playoff. And, in Division ‘C’, Snikla Shredders reclaimed the title after a 3-2 triumph over Queen’s Park Ball Blasters.
