Nixon ‘tricks’ Starworld
NATIONAL striker Jerren Nixon continued his prolific goalscoring form with a hat-trick yesterday for North East Stars to edge Starworld Strikers 3-2 in T&T Pro League action. He got his first in the 50th minute and sent The Stars further ahead eight minutes later. But Marc Borde reduced the lead for Strikers in the 64th minute and Guyanese ace Randolph Jerome knotted up the scores in the 75th.
Just when the teams appeared to be sharing the points, The Stars were awarded a penalty in the 88th minute, and Nixon stepped up to smash the ball into the net for the victory. W Connection shut out South West Drillers 2-0 in another match with Christopher Harvey scoring in the 48th minute and Jason Cudjoe in the 64th. And Defence Force held off a determined Arima/Morvant Fire 2-1. After Marvin Gordon fired the Army-Coast Guard combination into a 36th minute lead, Jerwyn Belthazar made it 2-0 in the 53rd. But Dale Simon netted in the 71st minute for Fire and a a big battle followed to the end.
