Under-19s romp to second group win
KINGSTON: Trinidad and Tobago completed an eight-wicket victory in their second round Zone “B” match in the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 three-day cricket competition over Leeward Islands yesterday. Set a modest 89 to win, TT reached their target about an hour after the lunch interval for the loss of two wickets, including opening batsman William Perkins for the top score of 57.
An all-round bowling performance, led by Rishaad Harris with three wickets for 19 runs from six overs, helped TT dismiss Leewards for 142 in their second innings. The win put TT, the defending champions, on 32 points, the same as Guyana in Zone “B”. The two teams meet in the final preliminary round match tomorrow at the Jamalco Ground. Leewards continued from their overnight total of 110 for six in their second innings, but TT’s bowlers made sure that there would be no fight back from the tail of their opponents’ batting. Jason Mohammed captured two wickets for ten runs from eight overs, Young West Indies left-arm spin bowler Rishi Bachan bagged two for 17 from 18 overs, and TT captain Kavesh Kantasingh took two for 50 from 14.2 overs.
