Stokelyvale jump to fourth

BIWATER Stokelyvale jumped to fourth spot in the National Super League after a come-from-behind 6-1 annihilation of Moruga in the second match of a double-header at Shaw Park, Scarborough. In the earlier encounter on Saturday, Joe Public cruised to a 3-0 victory over Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix. Amin Julien fired Moruga into the lead in the 27th minute but any hopes of a win was short-lived when Stokelyvale went on a six-goal burst in the space of 33 minutes. Darron Williams equalised for the hosts in the 56th with Dwayne Leacock putting Stokelyvale two goals up with strikes in the 69th and 78th. The Williams-Leacock combination were in sizzling form on the night, with Williams making it 4-1 in the 80th.


The pair would eventually get their third individual goals —  Leacock in the 85th and Williams one minute from full time. A full slate of matches will be contested today from 4 pm —  East San Juan United vs L Sporto Connection, Mt Hope Junior Secondary School Ground; WASA Clean and White vs Club Sando, WASA Ground, St Joseph; Caroni vs Moruga, Brechin Castle, Couva; Superstar Rangers vs Joe Public, Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo; Police vs Harvard, Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. And a double-header will be held at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, with Phoenix opposing Carib at 4 o’clock while Biwater Stokelyvale meet Maraval Youth Academy two hours later.
