‘Lions’, Crabs, Police win

JOE PUBLIC, L-Sporto Crab Connection and Police were all in winners’ row as the National Super League continued on Tuesday. The “Eastern Lions” Joe Public strolled to a 5-0 triumph over Club Sando at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre with a goal apiece from Jason Springer (26th minute), Carlington Smith (28th), Wolrey Wolfe (48th), Garvin McKenna (53rd) and Roen Nelson (89th). The Crabs remain in second spot, 11 points adrift of the leaders Joe Public after they edged Superstar Rangers 1-0 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. Michael Alexis got the winner for Connection in the 13th. Police made the trek down to the Otis Memorial Park, Moruga and were rewarded with a 5-2 victory with Jason Boodram netting a double, in the 35th and 45th minutes.


Richard De Coteau (28th), Nigel Melville (60th) and Sean McClashie (80th) got one each. Marcus Emmanuel scored twice for the hosts, in the 85th and 89th. In fact, the top four teams were all victorious on Tuesday with fourth-placed Biwater Stokelyvale getting the better of WASA Clean and White 5-3 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet. Temperamental striker Michael Carrington got a hat-trick for the hosts, in the 23rd, 37th and 45th minutes, while Terrence Phillips struck twice, in the 68th and 90th. Scoring for WASA were Brian Bain (51st) and Kirth Hutchings (64th and 82nd). In the first match of the double-header in Tobago, Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix whipped Maraval Youth Academy 3-0 with Dominique Kerr finding the target in the 67th and 73rd, following the opener by Stephon Hector in the 45th.
