‘Wining’ around a dead man
THE EDITOR: What a shameful society we have become when a man can lay dying on the ground after being shot and patrons of the annual La Brea Pitch Lake Fete continued thier wining and gyrating around him. This disgraceful behaviour is no different to the many newspaper reports recently of car accident victims laying helplessly in their cars while persons passing help themselves to whatever they can put thier hands on before someone of authority reaches the crash scene.
Who are these people that are giving this country such a bad name? Who are their parents? Who taught them at school? Surely there are persons close to these people that know of their actions and hopefully will feel the need to correct them as our society seems to be spiralling out of control. Where are all the True Trinis ? The ones who have for years showed compassion for their fellow man especially in time of need? It is time we wake up and realise we are all part of this huge mess that is mounting in our beloved country and make a difference each and every day to fix Trinidad and Tobago. Failure to do so will certainly result in the demise of our sweet TT.
