Grazettes capture doubles title

AFTER falling short in their individual exploits, the brother-sister tandem of Ivor and Dayna Grazette beat Leeza Rooks and Mark Henderson 7-5, 6-3 to capture the 2004 Evian Open National Championships mixed doubles. Going into the final, the Grazette/Grazette team looked to be in sync with each other’s style of play opting for a strong arm game against Brent Kuei Tung and Anastasia Weedon in their semi-final, while Rooks/Henderson looked a little shaky against veteran Valerie Pedro Harris and Richard Brown.

In other matches yesterday, Anastasia Weedon and Lisa Fung Kee Fung advanced to the final of the women’s doubles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over  Alison and Cheyenne Lutchman, they will play Rhonda Mohammed and Valerie Pedro-Harris who beat Amunu Adogwa and Simone Liverpool 6-1, 6-1 in their semi-final. The Women’s Doubles final between Weedon/Fung Kee Fung and Mohammed /Pedro-Harris will be played today from 4.15 pm and will be preceded by the veterans singles final between Michael Cooper and Swaran Maharaj at 3 pm.
