Problem of silt on sidewalk
THE EDITOR: I have made several complaints to the City Corpora-tion regarding mounds of silt left on the sidewalk after the drains have been cleaned. It is now eight weeks and part of the silt is still there. The rain has caused the other part to fall back into the drain. On my final call to the Corporation, I was informed that they have to work out logistics before it can be moved.
The Corporation seems to suffer from a lack of transport, equipment and personnel, in order to get the job done and this too could be contributing to the excessive flooding after heavy showers of rain, as they would not be able to clean the bigger drains and rivers if they do not have the necessary tools to do the job. Vision 2020 starts with the little mound of silt on the sidewalk and if we cannot move it, we will not achieve our goal. Let us all consciously work together towards making Trinidad and Tobago a safe and healthy country.
