St Clair’s chase league, FA double

DEFENDING league champs St Clair’s Coaching School advanced to the quarter-finals in this year’s Pepsi FA Cup in the Warner Group of Companies-sponsored Tobago Football Association. The champs edged a stubborn Pepsi Hills United 2-1 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, on Wednesday night.

Rodney Nelson opened the scoring for Coaching School, and the prolific Keon Daniel added the other, but just when they appeared to be cruising to victory, Eustace Stewart pulled one back for Hills and a furious exchange ensued before time ran out. Seeking the double crown, Coaching School will next meet Charlotteville Unifiers in the “quarters.” Unifiers shut out a determined Leeds United 2-0 in the opening game of the double-programme at the stadium.

Second half goals by Dwayne Murray and Gregory Dillon iced the victory for Unifiers. At the stadium’s training ground, Hope Village Milan and Sea Level Goal City played to 1-1 draw before the “Villagers” squeaked home 4-3 on penalty kicks. Garvin Richards opened the scoring for the “Villagers”, but saw a goal by Goal City’s Odinga Walker knot-up the scores.
