Jabloteh, Rangers clash for Unit Trust Under-14 crown
CL FINANCIAL San Juan Jabloteh will clash with Superstar Rangers in the final of the inaugural Unit Trust Under-14 Football Championship. The decider will be contested on Tuesday (Independence Day) at 4 pm, following the third-placed play-off between Joe Public and Gasparillo Youths two hours earlier at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. Jabloteh cruised past “Eastern Lions” Joe Public 5-2 in semi-final action on Monday while, in the other match of the double-header held at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, Rangers got the better of Gasparillo 4-3.
Micah Lewis was the hero for Jabloteh, as he netted four goals in the 13th, 17th, 42nd and 50th minutes, with Damian Sealey getting the other item. Darius Peters struck twice for Joe Public, in the 20th and 26th minutes. The Rangers-Gasparillo matchup was a topsy-turvy affair, with goals from Dexter Dernol (fifth), Stephan Campbell (12th) and Nathaniel Prosper (17th) putting Gasparillo three-nil up before Rangers staged a remarkable comeback. Chad De Freitas played an integral part in Rangers’ win, scoring in the 21st, 24th and 45th minutes, with Quinton Williams thundering a long-range drive in the 77th to put Rangers into the final.
