Making yourself an eunuch
THE EDITOR: “What God have joined together let no man put asunder”. “For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.” Romans 7: 2&3 It hath been said, “Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:” but I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery; and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.” Matthew 5: 31&32.
Now fornication is sexual intercourse between unmarried persons. Therefore if two people are living common law, a man can put away his common law wife to avoid fornication, or marry her. In ancient times when a man took a wife she had to be a virgin; or else, if she had committed fornication before they got married, it was within his rights to put her away. Deuteronomy 22: 13-21. Also, when a married woman committed adultery, she was stoned to death. Thus only death should separate a husband from a wife; that’s the marriage vow. Till death do us part. In the event of separation for any other reason, they should remain single or be reconciled. The disciples asked Jesus, why did Moses command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He said unto them, “Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it was not so.” Matthew 19: 7&8
His disciples said unto him, “If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry”. He said unto them, “All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.” There are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb; and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs by men; and there be eunuchs, which made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. Matthew 19: 10-12 an eunuch is a man, who has no sexual organ. If a true Christian has an adulterous wife, and he cannot dwell with her, he should make himself an eunuch by living single and abstaining from sex. If she repents, then he can be reconciled for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. Matthew 19: 11.
