Costa still cycling time trial boss

EVERGREEN Guy Costa kept his Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation CPS National Cycling Championships time trial title when he pedalled his way to victory at Macqueripe, Chaguaramas. Costa out-rode young Joshua Alexander in the 40-kilometre event to finish a clear two minutes ahead at the end of Sunday’s ride. He was timed in 1:05.27 while Alexander clocked 1:07.25, and Stephen Rambaran who was third stopped the watch at 1:09.25.

Exciting young rider Christopher Sellier topped the juniors category over 20 kilometres in 33.32 ahead of Jonathan Rawlins 36.14 and Dariel Pereira 37.37. Gregory Dandrade was winner of the Veterans (40-49) 20-kms in 34.15 seconds, with Richard Ramchand next in 34.29 and Kelvin Lee Young 35.21. Ex-national champion Ronald Peters was first home in the 10 kms 50-59 age-group in 17.36, just ahead of Peter Hernandez 17.47 and Barry Antoni 18.20. And Peter de Silva pedalled to the line first in the 10 kilometres for Veterans 50-59. The championships continue on Sunday with a road race along the Long Circular circuit from 11 am.  On September 12 the criterium will be staged at King George V Park from 1 pm.
