Yesterday, CONCACAF, in association with the CFU, identified the dates for the qualifying rounds for the eight CFU clubs taking part in the Champions’ Cup.
The clubs from the CFU will contest the opening round on a home-and-away basis on September 22 and 29 this year. In the other first round fixtures, Intermeongotapoe of Suriname meet Juventus de Saint-Martin of St Maarten in Series “A,” Antigua and Barbuda’s Bassa Sports Club face Tivoli Gardens of Jamaica in Series “B,” and Harbour View of Jamaica take on Ideal Football Club Montserrat in Series “C.” The four opening round winners will advance to a two-match, CFU semi-final series set for October 13 and 20 this year.
The semi-final winners will do battle for the CFU’s berth to the 2005 Champions Cup in a home-and-away series final scheduled for November 3 and 10 this year. The 2005 breakdown of teams for the Champions Cup will feature two clubs each from Mexico and the United States, along with three clubs qualifying from Central American Football Union Championship later this year.
