Rougier to miss St Kitts game
TRINIDAD and Tobago will be without Anthony Rougier for tomorrow’s CONCACAF World Cup qualifier against St Kitts/Nevis in Basseterre. The utility man has been delayed in England, and his place was handed to Cl Financial San Juan Jabloteh midfielder Stokely Mason. Also out of tomorrow’s game will be skipper elect Angus Eve, because of two yellow cards, so the captain’s arm-band will be taken over by Glasgow Rangers central defender Marvin Andrews. Errol McFarlane jr is expected to join the squad today, while Arnold Dwarika was expected last night. According to information emanating from St Kitts, the SNFA and Carib Brewery (St Kitts) have joined in a sponsorship deal which will see the locals getting EC$1 from the sale of each case of beer and is aimed at drumming up support for the island footballers.
But while it came as a surprise to Andrews, an ex-employee of Carib Brewery (Trinidad), he said it would not deter his team. And echoing his sentiments, defender Brent Sancho said: “We are here to get a job done so whether Coca-Cols or Carib support the opposing team it does’nt bother us.” He added: “Coach Bertille St Clair has made it clear that we remain focused on the job at hand, and the one against Mexico on Wednesday.” While the St Kitts/Nevis team will have huge home support, a contingent of Trinidadians led by Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation special adviser Jack Austin Warner replete with the Angostura Woodbrook Playboyz Steel Orchestra are expected by chartered flight to cheer on their team.
