Yorke’s got his number
LONDON: What’s in a number? Ask former Trinidad and Tobago striker Dwight Yorke, who recently signed a new deal with Premiership side Birmingham City. The 32-year-old Yorke has been allocated number 33 in the Blues’ squad with the coveted number seven, nine and ten jerseys all taken by several recent Birmingham summer signings.
Former Chelsea midfielder Jesper Gronkjaer occupies the number seven jersey, fellow team-mate from Chelsea Mikael Forssell holds the number nine jersey, while former Blackburn Rovers’ David Dunn wears the number ten. Yorke, who joined Birmingham on a one-year deal with the option of another year, previously wore the highly coveted number ten at Aston Villa, number 15 at Blackburn Rovers, and number 19 at Manchester United.
