Carnival Messiah gets 57.5 kilos in H/Cap

CARNIVAL MESSIAH was allotted top impost of 57.5 kilos for the sole handicap on the Arima Race Club Day 26 card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Saturday. The “Horse Of The Year 2001” was handed the topweight by handicappers Wayne Shockness and John Maingot for the 1350 metres contest which attracted 14 runners. But the Handicap 1 and Lower sprint, which was to be the spotlight event on the 10-race card, failed to attract sufficient runners and was cancelled.

The 1200 metres sprint which catered for a similar bunch of animals to the “Restricted” race mustered only three runners, Honor Bound, Twice Infallible and Fortunate Flag. It is understood connections of Honor Bound got wind of the shortfall in the sprint, and deviated and paid the entrance fee for the Restricted Handicap. The Kenneth de Silva jr inmate is close up in the weights to Carnival Messiah. The American-bred seven-year-old was handed 56.5 kilos, same as  Gold Conveyor. Following the pair on the weigh scale are creoles Super Grey 55 kilos, Bon Voyage 52 kilos and Punto A Punto 51 kilos. At the basement of the handicap set to tote a penny stamp 44 kilos is Ula.
