Thomas the hero as WASA flow to front in Emerald

WASA Clean and White leapt to the top of the standings in the Emerald Plaza and Apartments-sponsored Eastern Football Association Arthur “Jap” Brown Trophy series when they edged Joe Public 1-0 at Squadron Ground, Arouca. Gailon Thomas was the hero of Saturday’s match, which saw the winners moving to 19 points. They took over leadership from TSTT who were surprisingly shut out 3-0 by Coast Guard at St Augustine Senior Comprehensive Ground. Deon McFarlane, Lauvel Sterling and Lawrence de Verteuil scored one goal each for the winning team.


At St Joseph Recreation Ground, Malta Carib Alcons whipped Athletico Sports Institute 4-2 with Cordell Lucas grabbing a hat-trick and Kenon Osborne getting the other goal.  Patrick Toussaint and Peter Pascall got the goals for the beaten team. And HCL Strikers lifted themselves from the cellar position with a 1-0 victory over Shoe Locker Young Hearts at Boundary Road Ground, on a goal by Michael Thomas. Goals by Kevin Samuel and Quincy Oliver gave Falcon Crest a 2-0 triumph over East/West Coaching School at Sosconosco Ground.
