Stern John off to Notts Forest

LONDON: Birmingham have accepted an offer from Nottingham Forest for Trinidad and Tobago striker Stern John, according to a BBC report yesterday. The 27-year-old, who had a previous spell at the City Ground, has also had offers from Coventry and Leeds. “We tabled the same offer as Leeds and Coventry and Birmingham accepted it. We have also met Stern’s personal terms,” said a Forest spokesman.

“He has been away on international duty this week and we’re expecting the situation to develop when he returns.” John, who was expected to return home from Trinidad yesterday, has fallen behind Mikael Forssell, Emile Heskey and Clinton Morrison in the pecking order at St Andrews, with the Blues also having bought Dwight Yorke on transfer deadline day. The former Columbus Crew striker joined Forest for ?1.5m in October 1999 and scored 21 times in 81 appearances.
