Coaching School chase FA Trophy

ST CLAIR’S Coaching School, perennial champions of the Warner’s Group of Companies-sponsored Tobago Football Association Premier League, will attempt to become the first ever double-crowned winners tonight. They play Sidey’s in the final of the Pepsi FA Cup at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago. The champs, brain-child of current national coach Bertille St Clair, have won the league title since its inauguration three years ago but never the Pepsi FA, something which they plan to correct in tonight’s final which is timed to kick off at 8 pm. And apart from the trophy and medals, there will be a $12,000 prize attached. While Coaching School have been reeling in the rewards, Sidey’s best finish in any competition is semi-finals in this FA series two years ago.

Then a referee’s blunder debarred them victory over Coaching School, and these men from Speyside which has been hard hit by Hurricane Ivan, are determined to give their villagers something to cheer about and correct that wrong. But they must curb leading league goalscorer Kareem Robley and his strike partners Bert Burris, Rodney Nelson and Hugo Blake. Sidey’s will rely on the shooting boot of Junior Lyons and Ryan Gray who have scored all but one of their team’s goal this season thus far. Prior to the final, Mason Hall Police Youth Club, in their first year in the top bracket, take on Biwater Stokelyvale in the play-off for third place and a $1,000 stipend. Kick off is 6 pm.
