Ganga hits undefeated 35 in rain-hit one-day match
HEAVY rain yesterday forced a premature end to the first of a four-match cricket series involving Trinidad and Tobago players preparing for the upcoming regional one-day tournament. A no-result was ruled yesterday afternoon between XS XI captained by Daren Ganga and the White Oak XI led by Shazam Babwah at the National Cricket Centre Ground in Balmain, Couva. But not before Ganga had won the toss and decided to bat.
And in the limted play available the former Test opener raced to 35 not out as the XS team reached 55 for two wickets. Then the rain intervened and prevented any further play with the umpires making a final inspection at 2.30 pm. The second match of the series, sponsored by Angostura Limited, will get underway at the Balmain venue from 9.30 am. Following the matches the Trinidad and Tobago team for the regional one-day championship will be selected.
