Manning reflects TT’s racial harmony
THE EDITOR: Patrick Manning is a very multiracial Prime Minister. This is clearly evident by the Prime Minister’s appearance at celebrations of Indian festivals including Arrival Day and Divali which take place every year. The population of Trinidad and Tobago is 1.3 million which is divided between the two major ethnic groups, Africans and Indians. There are many other smaller ethnic groups which also live in this country. We have racial harmony without parallel in any other part of the world. Foreign visitors marvel from the moment they step down on this land at the racial harmony that is in existence everywhere. Patrick Manning is not shrugging off the Indians. He is supportive of the Indians.
At celebrations of Indian festivals, Indian organisations will invite the Prime Minister to attend the celebrations in Debe, South Trinidad and Mohess Road in Penal, the heartland of Indians. The Prime Minister will immediately accept the invitations and attend the celebrations dressed in traditional Indian garb. He will participate in the activities bringing to them the most cordial and warmest greetings and pledging his utmost support to the Indians. For his multi-racialism Patrick Manning is well liked and admired by the Indian population. This country is a shining example to other nations of how many ethnic people can live peacefully as a nation. Patrick Manning strongly believes that the great racial harmony that exists in this nation will continue. Therefore he is saying that this country has to remain united as one people, one nation.
