My dad was murdered

RICHARD “Lion” Mann, of La Mango Village, Maracas/St Joseph, is claiming his father Reginald “Country” Mann, who was killed following a shoot-out on Friday, was murdered and he is demanding a thorough investigation. “My father did not shoot behind any police. They came to kill him which they did. They were always harassing us and had threatened to kill us and now they have accomplished what they set out to do,” Mann told Newsday. “I am not taking it so, I want an investigation.” According to reports, at around 5.45 pm, police officers went to the Mann home to serve a warrant and were greeted by gunfire. The police returned fire and when they checked the nearby bushes they found Mann, 51, lying in a pool of blood.

He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General hospital where he died around 4 am Saturday morning. Witnesses to the incident claimed there was no shoot-out since only two shots were fired. Police sources said they were not sure whether Mann shot at them. However, they insist that two men shot at them and they returned fire. Police also told Newsday they seized a quantity of gun-making equipment, a firearm and three rounds of  9 mm ammunition. A 38. revolver and three live rounds were also found where Mann fell. A post mortem is due to be performed on the body today.
