Blue Thunder roll over St George’s

STRIKER Dwight Critchlow netted a hat-trick as El Dorado, the “Blue Thunder,” scored a come-from-behind 6-5 win over hosts St George’s College in the East Zone of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) yesterday. The Barataria-based St George’s failed to hold on to their 3-1 half-time advantage, and suffered their second successive loss to the Tunapuna outfit, after they were beaten 2-0 by Hillview on Tuesday. Jamal Gay, Larnelle St Hillaire and Konata Morris were the other goalscorers for El Dorado while Marlon White found the back of the net three times for St George’s and Marlon St Louis two.

St Augustine, the mean “Green Machine,” remained atop the standings following a comfortable 4-1 victory over Hillview at St Augustine. National Under-17 midfielder Shastri Spencer led the way with a double, while Joel Williams and Lorenzo King chipped in with one apiece. The prolific Stefan George got the consolation for Hillview. Two games were cancelled by officials due to poor ground conditions, the Barataria-Arima encounter at Barataria and the Valencia-San Juan contest at Valencia. And the Central Zone will get going from 4 pm today with one match between Marabella Junior Secondary playing Presentation Chaguanas at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.
