Immigration raid at Villa Capri
THREE Venezuelans were deported yesterday by the San Fernando Immigration Department for illegally staying in the country. A Colombian woman was detained at Remand Yard for allegedly being in possession of a passport which bore a Trinidad and Tobago stamp, which authorised an extension of stay in the country. However the stamp was found to be a forgery.
According to reports, three Venezuelans were picked up by Immigration Officers at Villa Capri Hotel in Vistabella on Monday night. Lelian Valerea Bellaizac, 22, Claudia Benitez Perea, 27, and Sixta Reascos, 29, had passports which bore visas that had expired. After an internal hearing at the Immigration Office on Coffee Street in San Fernando, the three were ordered deported.
The Colombian, Yvette Rivas Ruevero, 32, was detained by officers inside the Immigration Office yesterday, where she went to seek an Extension of Stay. Cpl Marshall, WPC Frances and Immigration Officer Balkissoon Singh found that the local stamp on the passport bore an extension date that was falsified. The woman was detained at Golden Grove Women’s Prison pending a hearing of her status.
