Pantin to get Republic Day award
Clive Pantin, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for the Enhancement and Enrichment of Life (FEEL) has been chosen by Citizens For a Better Trinidad and Tobago (CBTT) for their Republic Day Award. In a press statement, Citizens For a Better Trinidad and Tobago, said that Pantin will receive the award for his long and outstanding service to national development in the fields of education and public service. Quality of service to the nation was also an important criterion for the award, CBTT said.
Pantin was attached to Fatima College for 27 years as a teacher, vice principal and principal. He was actually the first layman to be appointed principal of Fatima College. He left in 1981 to contest General Elections for the Organisation for National Reconstruction (ONR). He was Managing Director of Mc Enearney Alstons Personnel Services from 1982 to 1986. He became a senator in 1987 and served as Education Minister in the NAR government.
CBTT also expressed regret at the passing of one of the founding members, Reverend Balram Singh. According to the statement, the founding member passed away early yesterday morning. He was 80 years old. Head of CBTT, Harrack Balramsingh, said Singh’s passing left a void that would be difficult to fill by the group.
