Rangers jump to third spot

SUPERSTAR Rangers jumped to third spot in the 2004 National Super League after a hard-fought 4-3 victory over PLIPDECO Caroni in the first match of Saturday’s doubleheader at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. Shem McFarlane notched a hat-trick for Rangers, in the 28th, 45th and 54th minutes, while his fellow striker Akudo Goodridge got the match-winner in the 89th. Caroni held a 3-1 halftime lead with a double from Randy Weston, in the 24th and 38th minutes, and another from Hayden Vincent in first half injury time.


Rangers now have a tally of 46 points from 24 matches, the same as Police. The other match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Saturday resulted in a 3-0 win for Harvard over Biwater Stokelyvale with items from Kendell Baptiste in the fourth minute, Sheldon Mondesir in the 44th and Christon Freitas in the 72nd. And Brent Cruickshank’s 27th minute strike gave Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix a 1-0 triumph over Club Sando at Skinner Park, San Fernando.
