Ugliness of man-made systems

THE EDITOR: I am totally ashamed at the way that St Charles High School has treated twelve-year-old Kalifa Logan. As a practising Roman Catholic this situation only reveals the ugliness of religion and man-made systems. How discriminatory and un-Godlike for the administration of St Charles High School to make a unilateral decision and deny Kalifa education for which she worked hard only because of her hair.

Don’t you know that God judges people by their hearts and not their appearance? As a spiritual people, we as Catholics have certainly lost sight of the importance of respecting and loving our fellow man. The discrimination meted out to Kalifa and her family and in fact all Rastafarians only goes to show how hypocritical so-called ‘religious’ people really are. Shame on you!
