Who were rejected Mr Ramlogan?
THE EDITOR: Mr Anand Ramlogan in his article entitled “ Missing the Point” gave an analysis of the four major National Awards, the number of Indian awardees, and the total awarded in each category. What Mr Ramlogan should also have given us is the number and if possible the names of the people of Indian origin who were recommended for awards in each category between 1969 and 2004, because no one can or will be awarded unless they are recommended by someone or some organisation. So please Mr Ramlogan, let us have these statistics and if possible the names of those who were nominated for awards and were rejected so that the public will really know whether such nominees were deserving of National Awards or not, for many are recommended but few are chosen.
