Arima man set ablaze

MORVANT Police are investigating the circumstances under which Ryan Gomez was set on fire and left to die in an abandoned house in Malick. According to reports, officers went to a house at Seventh Avenue in Malick around 7.30 pm Sunday, where they found Gomez, 22, with first degree burns to 98 percent of his body. He was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he is warded in a critical condition.

Investigations revealed that Gomez, of Pinto Road in Arima, arrived at the house around 2.30 am that morning with friends, who, after an argument, set him alight and left. After hearing the constant moaning, neighbours contacted the police. Cpl Baboo of the Morvant police is investigating.
