DPP orders inquest into ‘demon’ death
DIRECTOR of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson has ordered an inquest into the death of Himarj Khalawan, whose family claimed he was “demon possessed.” On September 17, a 66-year-old man of the Heights of Gunapo Arima walked into the Arima Police Station and claimed he had killed Himraj the night before. Police went to the home where they found Himraj’s bloody body lying in the yard. Investigations revealed the man had taken in Himraj to rid him of his ailment some days before, but the two got into an altercation and the deceased was chopped several times about the body. His face was also ripped apart by dogs. The aged man was later released and, after investigations, an inquest was ordered. Cpl Stephen Tim Kew is investigating.
