Top-of-table clash in central
PRESENTATION Chaguanas and Carapi-chaima will face off in a top-of-the-table tussle in the Central Zone of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) today. Matches are scheduled for the North, South, East and Central Zones from 3.45 pm. Presentation have won all four of their matches by large margins, and the perennial zonal champs have netted 37 goals without conceding any. Carapichaima will have the advantage of home support for today’s match, and will be looking to make it count against the in-form Chaguanas outfit. Marabella will be aiming for their fourth successive victory when they host Chaguanas Senior, who have lost their last three fixtures; while Tabaquite will square off against the winless Union Claxton Bay at Tabaquite. The “Green Machine” St Augustine and San Juan will be seeking to retain their top two places in the East Zone — St Augustine will host the inconsistent “Dial Dy-namos” while San Juan will meet third-placed Hillview at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna.
Neighbours St George’s and Barataria will meet at the St George’s Ground while Valencia will host “Blue Thunder” El Dorado. Naparima will be looking to maintain their superiority in the South Zone when they take on St Benedict’s at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Naps, the 2003 Zonal winners, have a two-point lead over Mayaro, with the “Beach Boys” opposing Vessigny at the Mahaica Oval. Princes Town and Pleasantville will battle each other at Princes Town while Moruga will welcome bottom-placed Fyzabad. Mucurapo will stay atop the North Zone with victory against the struggling QRC at the Fatima Ground. But defending champs St Anthony’s, who trail Mucurapo by two points, will also fancy their chances against Malick at the St Anthony’s Ground, Westmoorings. Third-placed Fatima will meet the winless Tranquillity at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo while St Mary’s battle Morvant/Laventille at the CIC Ground, St Clair.
