Miss Lover Lover ready for ‘Diamond’

MISS LOVER LOVER has been on the exercise course the past two days and on each occasion has shown that her heart is in the right place for her assignment, tomorrow’s Diamond Stakes Handicap, on the Arima Race Club Day 29 card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. The Sagicor Independence Cup winner made an appearance on Wednesday  and chose to stretch her legs over 800 metres in a handy 53.21 seconds. The Edmund De Freiteas-trained four-year-old re-appeared yesterday and sharpened up over the last 600 metres in a swift 36.32 seconds. Top Of The Class who is also down to compete in the 1350 metres showpiece on tomorrow’s nine-race programme looked in peak condition. The 2003 triple crown winner cantered a full round of the course on Wednesday only opening up the trottle from the top of the straight to the winning post (400 metres) in 23.95 seconds. This was best time for the trip on the morning.

Sugar Mike, Invincibility and Twice Infallible who will also be in the feature line-up were kept on easy street by trainer Grant Lourenco. The 2003 Horse of the Year who will be out to redeem himself in the $75,000 race on the course he scored most of his victories, cantered with raceday rider Brian Harding astride, only changing motion over the last 400 metres in a flat 27.00 seconds. Invincibility enjoyed a leisurely spin over the last 800 metres on the loose sand in 59.82 seconds, while her younger stable companion, in the same fashion, covered 1000 metres in 1:13.84 seconds. Renaissance Man, Champagne Wager, Life In the Sky, and 2Sharp were among the lot to please connections with their gallops. Renaissance Man drilled 400 metres in 24.34 seconds, Champagne Wager and Life In the Sky showed their well-being over 600 metres in 36.86 and 37.19 seconds respectively, and 2Sharp gave a spirited display over 800 metres in 50.76 seconds.
