Police cruise in n-ball Super Cup
CARIBBEAN netball club champions Police cruised to a 57-36 victory over CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh as action in the inaugural NASAMA Enterprises Netball Super Cup Championship continued at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex. And also on Wednesday, arch-rivals Defence Force completed a 55-45 victory over Government Printery. The Police team, led by Floyd Lashley who scored 47 goals of 52 attempts, were never really extended as they led 18-4; 36-13 and 46-26 at the quarter stages. Julia Britto scored 25 of 37 attempts and Clyde Samuel 10 of 13 for Jabloteh. The action was intense in the earlier game as a determined Printery led 16-15 at the end of the opening quarter and still held a one-goal lead 27-26 at the half-time interval.
But the Army-Coast Guard squad put on the clamps on the Printery team, limiting them to only eight goals in the third period while scoring 15 themselves for a 41-35 lead. The outcome was never in any doubt thereafter as goal-shoot Anastascia Wilson scored 33 of 43 attempts after a perfect 10 for 10 in the first quarter. Goal-attack Derek Hughie netted 11 of 12 attempts in support. Candace Nelson had 20 goals from 36 attempts for Printery. The action shifts to the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena tomorrow, when Police take on Mucurapo Ex-Pupils, and Zenith meet Defence Force. Starting time is 5 pm.
