Poetic justice on runway paving

THE EDITOR: The vengeance of Moko has fallen on the runway repaving at Piarco, and suddenly, the very people who are persecuting the builders of the airport, are now being persecuted by airport events they cannot control. Poetic justice! Over $20 million on a botched overdue job for a bumpy runway that might have to be entirely re-done. Where’s the extra $20 million to come from? Insurances? Or the taxpayers? The line minister is Franklyn Khan. Failure or success in this matter is his. You are ultimately responsible for the mess, Mr Khan.

You have failed on a major project. Will you quit? Or will you get applause and promotion? People can only guess at the public and media outcry and condemnation if any other government made such a mess. The flapping gums on talk radio would have been spitting fury. But they’re not. This really looks and sounds like bias and imbalance and downright unfairness. Transparency International — remember them? — and the crime committee should comment, but will they? Don’t hold your breath. But Moko doesn’t sleep. He always makes sure that people get caught in the traps they set for others.
