Bethel dent Unifiers hope

CHARLOTTEVILLE Unifiers’ hope of lifting this year’s title in the Warner’s Group of Companies-sponsored Tobago Football Association took a heavy hit when they were edged 2-1 by lowly Bethel United, at Mt Gomery. Unifiers hold a four-point edge over St Clair’s Coaching School, but have played one game more than the defending champions. Joel John scored the double to undo Unifiers on Wednesday, who got their only goal from prolific Duane Murray. Bottom-of-the-table Georgia FC put in a determined performance and had Coaching School at full stretch to edge them 2-1 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago.

Keon Daniel put the defending champions ahead and they held their advantage to the half-time whistle, but midway through the second session Atwell Phillips stunned Coaching School supporters with an equaliser. But Densil James got a welcome winner for Coaching School in the 83rd minute. Pepsi Hills United whipped Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix 4-2 at Canaan to leap-frog them in the standings. Keon James, Nigel Alexander, Donald Wills and Ryan Thomas scored one goal each for the winners, while Dwight Phillip got both goals for Phoenix. Sidey’s continued their rich vein of late form with a 2-0 shut out of Biwater Stokelyvale in the earlier game at the Dwight Yorke Stadium. Hallam Bishop and Kester Kent got the goals for the lads from Speyside on Wednesday.
