Mucho Tempo returns on BLB Day

This American-foaled filly will get a chance to redeem herself , but faces Derby runner-up Latonia for which a $3,600 penalty was paid, and Jamaican Seattle Sue, a winner on Saturday last. Also in the 12-horse field for the race worth $50,000 are another Jamaican-bred three-year-old Supremely Satisfied, fleet-footed Salsa Moves, Dealer’s Choice, Over And Above and Java Takeover. The other “big race,” will see the two-year-olds chasing a collective purse of $50,000 in the Betting Levy Board Juvenile Sprint over 1300 metres.
In this event, Arts And Lovers who trotted up on Saturday last, will be aiming to reverse the placings in the Angostura Aromatic Bitters Nursery Stakes with conqueror Luann’s Passion. Only ten runners have been left in this one, including the unnamed Jamaican-bred Footloose/Suzie Southworth “babe.” Apart from these races which are anticipated to provide some exciting finishes, the Betting Levy Board are offering prizes to the top trainer and jockey of the day, the apprentice adjudged to have ridden the best race, grooms of the best turned out horse in each of the ten races, journalists and photographers. Top trainer and jockey of the day will each get $900, while the runners-up collect $400 and $200. The apprentice rider will pocket $500, while grooms will get $100 in each race.
The journalist prize is $1,000, same as the photographer who produces the best photograph.
