Joe Public aim for Super League KO
JOE PUBLIC will begin their quest for the National Super League knockout title when they meet M&M Harvard in the first match of today’s quarter-final doubleheader at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. Kick-off time is 6 pm. The ‘Eastern Lions’, vying for the 2004 League and knockout double, will also have the added incentive of qualifying for the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) FA Cup. The four semifinals, as well as the fifth and sixth-placed finishers in the current Super League knockout tournament, will be among the 31 teams out to dethrone North East Stars as the FA Cup holders.
In today’s other quarterfinal, 2003 league winners L-Sporto Crab Connection will square off against PLIPDECO Caroni at 8 pm. One rescheduled first round clash will take place tomorrow, with Police opposing Carib at the Mucurapo venue from 3.15 pm. Both teams met at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima last Sunday but ineffective floodlights forced the officials to call off the match with the score deadlocked at 5-5 during the kicks-from-the-penalty spot phase.
