Smooth sailing from Chaguanas to PoS
THE EDITOR: I am most happy to convey my best wishes to the person or persons responsible for the reorganisation of the Traffic Control Management System on the Chaguanas — Port-of-Spain route. I was astounded at the free flow of traffic from Chaguanas along the Uriah Butler Highway on October 14, 2004. For a minute I thought I was in a different place because the road was almost deserted at 7.30 am. We have been complaining so much for relief from the daily congestion that this is indeed a welcomed signal. I took fifteen minutes from Chaguanas to UWI this morning the first time in two months. This morning was smooth sailing and I am in wonderment as to what happened. The only thing that I noticed differently was the presence of policemen here, there and everywhere. Please do not stop whatever worked today.
Continue this great work, give us some hope that at least some of our tax dollars are helping us (the working class people). To all the police officers on duty monitoring the traffic, urging motorists on, looking for the delinquent drivers etc... you have done a great service for hundreds of thousands of persons this morning. I hope the authorities do not feel that once is enough, because it isn’t. We want the same, identical repeat everyday. I know that it is a costly exercise to have this monitoring, but it is definitely worth the money. People do not only complain they also compliment. To the head of Traffic Control I say on behalf of everyone who enjoyed smooth sailing while driving to work. “Excellent job today guys. Keep it up.” Do not stop a good thing. We appreciate the good work.
