El Dorado, St Augustine march on
“Blue Thunder” El Dorado and the “Green Machine” St Augustine will meet in the semifinal round of the RBTT Intercol East Zone competition, after both registered crushing victories in yesterday’s quarter-finals. In the first match at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, El Do dethroned 2003 winners Arima with a 6-0 annihilation. Following a first half strike from Keston Henry, striker Dwight Critchlow notched a hat-trick in the second stanza while Asani Wharwood and Lionel St Hillaire added one apiece for the Blue Thunder.
Like El Dorado, “Big 5” winners St Augustine also got five goals in the second half as they cruised past “Diamond Cutters” Valencia 5-0 in the late fixture, courtesy of two items apiece from Joel Williams and Aaron Peters with Elton John getting the other. Quarter-final action concludes today, in the North and South, with double-headers at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo and at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. In the North Zone, Mucurapo will face an easy task against Morvant/Laventille at 3 pm while Fatima will square off against St Mary’s two hours later. In South Trinidad, Mayaro will oppose Fyzabad at 3 pm while defending Zonal champions Naparima meet Pleasantville at 5 pm.
