Stars capture Pro League title

NORTH EAST Stars captured their first T&T Pro League football  title yesterday following a come-from-behind 3-1 triumph over Defence Force at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground. Goals by national striker Jerren Nixon (58th), Charles Pollard (69th) and Anthony Wolfe (90th) were enough to give North East full points, after Jerwyn Balthazar had put Defence Force ahead after eight minutes.

The Sangre Grande-based team have 54 points from 25 matches, three more than W Connection but with a 10-goal superior difference with one round of action remaining. In other matches yesterday, W Connection strolled past Arima/Morvant Fire 3-0 at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva while dethroned champs CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh crushed Starworld Strikers 4-0 at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.
