St Augustine, Presentation eye final

THE “Green Machine” St Augustine and Presentation College of  Chaguanas are seeking to claim places in the respective East and Central Zonal finals of the RBTT Intercol competition. The East and Central Zone semi-finals will be held from 3 pm today with double-headers at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima and the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

In Arima, San Juan will face Hillview at 3 pm, with the Tunapuna-based team holding a slight edge over San Juan. They gained a 1-0 victory on September 30 after they battled to a 2-2 draw on September 11, both in the British Gas Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL). St Augustine, who have lifted both SSFL East Zone and “Big 5” trophies this season, will be aiming for their third successive triumph over the “Blue Thunder” El Dorado, with the “Green Machine” prevailing 3-2 on September 18 and 5-1 on October 6.

Defending Central Zonal champs Presentation will have an easy task on their hands against Tabaquite at Couva from 3 pm, with Pres registering 8-0 and 3-0 wins in their last two meetings this season. From 5 pm, Marabella and Carapichaima will clash, with both teams having a win-loss record against each other. Marabella defeated Carapichaima 2-1 on September 22 while Carapichaima avenged the defeat with a 3-0 result on October 6.
