Jabloteh, Tivoli clash in CFU ‘semis’

CL FINANCIAL San Juan Jabloteh will be looking to maximise their home-ground advantage as they oppose Tivoli Gardens of Jamaica in the first leg of the semi-final round of Caribbean Football Union (CFU) qualifying for the 2005 CONCACAF Champions Cup. The first leg contest will be held tonight at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo from 7 pm while the return phase will be staged in Jamaica on November 10. Jabloteh progressed to the semis after a 3-1 aggregate victory over Walking Boys Company of Suriname last September while Tivoli whipped Bassa SC of Antigua 4-2 in their two-leg series last month.

The other CFU semi-final (which will also be held today and November 10) has Intermeongetapoe of Suriname taking on another Jamaican outfit Jamaica’s Harbour View. The winner of the CFU Qualifying tournament will progress to the 2005 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup. The CONCACAF Champions’ Cup is the longest running international club competition in the region and has crowned the champion club of the Confederation since its inception in 1962.
