UNC prepares for government

THE OPPOSITION UNC yesterday said it was confident that it would return to government when the next general election is held in Trinidad and Tobago and it was preparing for this through a series of education and creative leadership seminars at the Rienzi Complex in Couva. In a statement, the UNC based its confidence on the ruling PNM’s “wanton and brazen acts of corruption, failure to arrest the escalating crime rate, mismanagement of the economy and increase in the polarisation of the society.” The seminars are being facilitated by Chaguanas Mayor Dr Suruj Rambachan and are aimed at “creating a winning psychology and image in preparation for government.” The seminars have been endorsed by Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday and plans are in train to hold other sessions throughout the country.
